Why Twitter was down yesterday

What happens when you can’t tweet your every thought? Chaos and more Facebook statuses!

Yesterday many users of popular social media service Twitter experienced downtime and Twitter confirmed in a tweet on their @support account that they were aware of it:

The fault was due to an internal coding error that had to be reversed to solve the glitch.

This affected the sharing option from other sites or applications which have integrated APIs with Twitter and must have hurt businesses that depend on social marketing or information dissemination.

It’s back now, but we have a feeling Twitter might be working on a new feature or adjusting the interface of the application. We’ll see…
