Finally Windows phone owners can make voice calls on WhatsApp, after it had already slowed rolled out the extra feature to Android and iOS platforms earlier this year.
The updated version applies to users using Windows 7.5, 8 and 8.1. This version is WhatsApp 2.12.60.0 and uses either of these internet connections: 4G, 3G, 2G and EDGE, or Wi-Fi if available.
Seeing as Zambia has a fair share of Windows smartphones in the Nokia Lumia range especially, this should be good news for user here.
This version will take about 17MB of your phone’s space so make sure you have a micro-SD card if your phone doesn’t have enough internal storage.
This VoIP feature that WhatsApp has added to all 3 platforms now makes it a very huge competition from other applications like Viber and Skype that offer a similar service. The only addition that WhatsApp needs to make to get to their level is introduce video calling, then we will really see the battle take place among these social messengers as they struggle to improve their service and keep their market shares.
