UBA Zambia introduces digital assistant, Leo, on WhatsApp

United Bank for Africa (Zambia) Limited on Friday 29th November 2019, launched a new, exciting and innovative digital solution that allows clients to carry out basic banking services using WhatsApp.

With the introduction of Leo the chat banker on WhatsApp, customers will be able to open new accounts, send money, buy airtime, reset their pin and check their balances on the go.

Speaking at the launch in Lusaka, UBA Zambia’s Managing Director Emeka Dimanochie said the bank was committed to satisfying the needs of the customers by churning out products that offer unmatched convenience.

“The formulation of this product is consistent with our bank’s customer first philosophy, where we are doing things not the way we like, but focusing on what you the customers want.”  He said.

Mr. Dimanochie said he had no doubt that the introduction of Leo on WhatsApp will not only improve access to financial services for the citizenry but will go a long way in helping the country move towards a cashless society.

“Today a lot of people travel significant distances to access banking services and in the process lose valuable time and incur significant transaction costs. We as UBA are continuously developing strategies aimed at easing transactions for the bank’s numerous users while ensuring utmost safety.” Mr. Dimanochie explained.

And UBA Zambia Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications Wezi Njovu said the bank will continue to leverage on emerging technology to not only enhance the banking experience but to satisfy the needs of its customers.
