TopStar partners with Zamtel Kwacha for payment solution
Zamtel’s mobile money platform Zamtel Kwacha yesterday announced a partnership with TopStar to increase the number of payment options available for its customers.
TopStar Chief Executive Officer Liao Leo said TopStar is pleased to partner with Zamtel in providing the public with convenient methods of payment.
Mr. Leo said the partnership will reduce cash transaction because subscribers will be able to make their transactions electronically. He said that 60% of Top star subscribers have found it convenient to do their transactions and make payments using electronic platform.
He says Top-star will continue making such partnerships to embrace the growing digital finance services in the country.
And Zamtel Acting Chief Executive Officer Reuben Kamanga said Zamtel is committed to providing better mobile money services to contribute to the country’s economy.
Mr. Kamanga has further called on Zambians to emulate Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe who have more mobile money accounts as opposed to traditional bank account.
“Let me stress from the on-set that Zamtel Kwacha is a safe and easy way to always have access to your wallet on the go. As Zamtel, we are poised to leverage technology to drive growth, financial inclusion and efficiencies,” Mr Kamanga said.
“We believe that Digital technologies offer scope for a fundamental change in the way financial services are provided to consumers. In other African markets like Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe, mobile money accounts are more prevalent than traditional bank accounts.”
“We hope to push the envelope and make sure Zamtel Kwacha grows to become the first banking or payment option available to all our subscribers across Zambia. This is key because we believe that a robust combination of telecommunications and financial services will remain a key driver to sustained economic growth,” he added.
All TopStar subscribers will now be able to pay their fees through Zamtel Kwacha by dialing *344# and following prompts.
