Total to give away K390000 to startups, with coaching support from Bongohive
To mark its 65th anniversary of doing business in Zambia, Total Zambia will be hosting a competition called Startupper of the Year by Total for young startups in Zambia. All you have to do is register your startup idea at https://startupper.total.com/en/challenges/startuppers and meet the following requirements:
- be up to the age of 35 years old
- have a startup idea or business less than 2 years old, or intended to be
- the startups should be innovation, competitive, boost growth and create jobs in Zambia.
- be a Zambian citizen
You can only submit one application into this competition before the deadline of 31st January. 10 startups will then be picked and get ongoing support from BongoHive, a technology and innovation hub situated in Lusaka. Visit their website here..
The startup to win the 1st prize will get funding of K190000, the 2nd gets K120000 and the 3rd will get K80000 from Total. Winners will be announced in May 2016.
According to Bongohive’s blog post about the competition, Total Zambia Managing Director Damien Ricour-Dumas said “This initiative supports enterprises that are dealing with the challenges in the community. Entrepreneurs are problem solvers and the Startupper challenge asks members of the public to show us how their business can make a difference in the community. Total will support those of you who will inspire, create, invest, hire and produce, all to transform your own communities.”
