Zambia Standard Chartered Bank Zambia has announced that it is the Platinum Sponsor for the 2023 Africa Must Think Conference, which will be held in July. The Bank has injected K500,000 for the conference, which aims to promote a culture of entrepreneurship amongst Zambian youth.
Standard Chartered Bank Zambia CEO, Sonny Zulu, said, “A key priority for us at Standard Chartered is to empower the Zambian youths. That is why we are very proud to announce that we will be the Platinum sponsor for the 2023 ‘Africa Must Think’ conference. This conference has grown momentum over the years and aligns with our youth empowerment vision. Congratulations to Dumisani and team for pushing the youth entrepreneurship agenda – we are excited to join you on this very important journey.”
Standard Chartered Bank supports various youth empowerment programmes, under the umbrella of its Futuremakers programme. Mr. Zulu noted that, “Standard Chartered currently has two key youth empowerment programmes, which are being implemented across Zambia. Youth to Work, in partnership with Challenges Zambia, creates opportunities for young Zambians to become work ready. Ultimately, the youth on our programme are empowered with work experience in local Zambian businesses, including SMEs.”
He added, “Standard Chartered also has the Enhancing Youth Entrepreneurship and Employability Programme (EYEE), in partnership with VSO Zambia. EYEE is supporting over 500 youth not only in Lusaka, but as far as Samfya. We are very proud of this programme because it encourages our youth to not only strive for employment, but to become businesswomen and businessmen, and create employment in our economy.”
Mr. Zulu added that Standard Chartered is a bank that moves with the times. “As you know, today’s youth are very digitally-savvy, and we at Standard Chartered have moved with this trend. We are proud to be the first fully digital bank in Zambia. We are the only bank where one can open an account, end-to-end, without ever needing to physically visit a branch. Furthermore, over 70 banking services can be accessed via our award-winning SC Mobile App. We are set up for the youth and indeed future generations – we are Here for good.”
