Instagram is not changing the way you see timelines…yet!
After seeing many updates by popular Zambians, and many others worldwide, urging their followers to turn on notifications for their posts, it looks like Instagram had to say something about it. They tweeted yesterday:
So you don’t have to do anything for now. They’ll let you know themselves when any changes are made to the way their timeline algorithm works. They are testing a new algorithm that may show posts that they think you’d like based on your interests. Read about it here.
Instagram had written in a blog post that:
“The order of photos and videos in your feed will be based on the likelihood you’ll be interested in the content, your relationship with the person posting and the timeliness of the post. As we begin, we’re focusing on optimizing the order — all the posts will still be there, just in a different order.”
According to Forbes, this new algorithm is only being tested with a few people and hasn’t been rolled out to everyone, yet.
This is what probably sparked the trend. If you don’t have Instagram at all, download it here.
