Samsung Galaxy Note 4 or iPhone 6 Plus?
Trying not to bend (no reference to the iPhone 6 Plus) the truth, here are the features to expect out of the sleek looking Samsung Galaxy Note 4.
Design and dimensions: It has a back cover made out of soft texture for a firmer grip and comes in dimensions of 153.5 X 78.6 X 8.5 mm and weighs 176g, compared to the iPhone 6 Plus with its 158.1 x 77.8 x 7.1 mm and 172g, making the Note 4 thinner, shorter but heavier than the iPhone 6 Plus.
Display: The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 has a 5.7” Quad HD Super AMOLED screen with 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution, larger than the iPhone 6 Plus’ 5.5 screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. The screen on the Note 4 is much better because it comes with Quad HD display features for sharper, more crisp pictures.
CPU and Processor: The Galaxy Note 4 runs on Android 4.4.4 (KitKat) and has a
Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 2.7GHz Quad Core Processor while iPhone has an Apple A8 chipset with a dual-core 1.4 GHz Cyclone processor. The would make the iPhone 6 Plus seem like a slower phablet but Apple products usually are assessed by general performance rather than numbers so they might both be fast enough for you.
Storage: Note 4 has 3GB RAM + 32GB Internal memory and can handle microSD cards of up to 128GB. The 6 Plus has choices of 16/64/128 GB variants and has 1GB of RAM. Word on the tech streets is that ‘there’s no such thing as too much RAM’, and Samsung seems to be paying attention.
Camera: The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 has a 16 MP rear camera and 3.2 MP front camera compared to the iPhone 6 Plus’ 8 MP rear and 1.2 MP front cameras. The numbers show the Note 4 clearly outdoes the iPhone 6 Plus in this area.
Battery: The Note 4 has a 3220mAh battery with fast charging abilities, while the iPhone 6 Plus has a 2915 mAh. Yes you have more life with the Samsung Galaxy Note 4.
Price: While the iPhone 6 Plus is locally selling for around K8500, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is selling in other countries at about $850 (approx K 5389), but will cost slightly higher when launched in Zambia. However we do not think it will cost beyond K8500 like the iPhone 6 Plus.
Conclusion: The Samsung Galaxy S4 seems to have better features overall and the S-Pen it comes with is great for people who love to scribble. The textured back also gives a better grip on the phablet than you have on the smooth backed iPhone 6 Plus. The Note 4 also has a better camera, both front and rear. You also will pay less for the Note 4 than for the iPhone 6 Plus. The Note 4 also has sharper resolution so we hope app developers are adapting their applications for this as Apple already scales the apps it runs for the specific screen resolutions.
The battle between Samsung and Apple continues…
