Proflight and MTN team up for payments option on MTN Mobile Money
Proflight Zambia is really in there with their payment options and it’s great to see they understand the ease of convenience that mobile money brings to the payments table.
They have just added MTN’s Mobile Money platform as another way for customers to pay for air tickets on Proflight flights around the country. Proflight had already partnered with another mobile money service provider Zoona in February.
Payments can be done on both Zoona and MTN Mobile Money through one of their Mobile Money agents or service centres located around town but the additional benefit MTN Mobile Money has is that payments can be done right from home on one’s phone rather than going out to look for an agent. There, however, has to money deposited into the Mobile Money account for a payment to be successful and then receive a virtual ticket.
The service will also be available as a standard payment option on Proflight’s online and mobile booking platform where customers using a computer or smartphone can book their tickets.
According to a statement from MTN, Proflight Director of Government and Industry Affairs Captain Philip Lemba said: “Our relevance in the industry will only be ensured by delivering value-added services to our customers. This collaboration will allow us to provide them with a more convenient, safer and faster way of making payments.
This will save our customers time and money as the whole ticket procuring process can be done from the comfort of their homes or work place 24/7.”
MTN Mobile Money National Manager Wane Ng’ambi said Mobile Money brings convenience to the Zambian travelling public adding that the facility aims at enhancing people’s lives.
“As well as being fast and convenient, MTN Mobile Money is reaching millions of people who don’t have bank accounts, giving them access to a variety of life-enhancing financial services including savings and insurance schemes.”
“The partnership with Proflight is yet another important step in our journey to enable our customers make travel arrangements conveniently. Our strategy places the customer at the heart of any offer we introduce as MTN and, working with Proflight, we intend to further extend the convenience of MTN Mobile Money to our customers,” added Mr. Ng’ambi.
MTN Mobile Money enables users to perform local money transfers, make utility payments, save money in their interest bearing mobile wallets, purchase airtime and access a range of mobile financial products.
To support the initial stages of this services, MTN Mobile Money has launched a promotion to reward customers who buy air tickets using Mobile Money. The promotion which will run for two weeks from 21st July 2015 (Mondays to Fridays only) will reward K200 cash to the first 10 customers. The prize money will be sent to their Mobile Money accounts within 48 hours of winning.
“We are starting on a high note and as the country’s leading communications solutions provider with the largest market share, it is our mission to make our customers lives a whole lot brighter,” said Ng’ambi.
There is nothing on the *303# MTN short code service at the moment but we have been assured that the option will be activated soon enough, we hope…
