Netflix just got a ‘N’ew icon

Video streaming service Netflix just got a new icon for its app and website as shown above in the form of a huge ‘N’ to show how flicky they can get.

Before, the icon had the entire Netflix word spelled out like this:

So, is Netflix rebranding? Not according to the statement they gave The Verge:

“We are introducing a new element into our branding with an N icon. The current Netflix logo will still remain. The icon will start to be incorporated into our mobile apps along with other product integrations in the near future.”

So that’s pretty much it, incase you were wondering. They even tweeted about the change:

@nikhilwad Not a new logo! The N is an icon and a new creative element to live with our logo. The current Netflix logo is here to stay 🙂

Luckily they don’t have to go through the shade that Instagram went through when they decided to change their icons.
