Windows 10 May Have A New Browser, Cortana Inclusive. Goodbye IE?

Last week there was speculation that the new Windows update will not come with Internet Explorer (IE) as its native browser but Microsoft may be working on another one.

When they announced Windows 10 in September 2014, Microsoft stated that ‘it’s time for a new Windows. This new Windows must be built from the ground-up for a mobile-first, cloud-first world. This new Windows must help our customers be productive in both their digital work and their digital life. This new Windows must empower people and organizations to do great things.’

From the ground up indeed. Killing off IE (which to be honest most don’t even use anymore) is one way to do it. However, we are not sure whether Windows 10 will completely get rid of Internet Explorer, or maybe just not set it as a default browser. It also risks losing some consumers who may actually like IE if completely trashed.

Windows 10 is their new operating system (OS) that comes after the previous Windows 8/8.1 versions, leaving out a possible Windows 9 because Microsoft believes the new OS will be that much of an improvement it had to be named ’10’.

There are now new reports that Windows 10 may come with the digital assistant Cortana. This is very similar to Google’s digital assistant Google Now which is available on the iOS, Android and Google Chrome web browser platforms.

Windows 10 OS is one that Microsoft intends to be compatible with many types of devices that support Windows so we see why they want to include as many features as possible.
