A Review Of The Huawei Honor 6 Plus
Strikingly similar in appearance to the iPhone 6 Plus, the latest gadget from rising smartphone maker Huawei is the Honor 6 Plus.
The first thing you’ll notice is this latest flagship has no ‘Huawei’ logo on it and perhaps it’s because the phone maker has listened to the cries of phone experts who said the logo brings to mind how the phone is made in China thereby automatically thinking of it as cheap and a knockoff.
The features in the Honor 6 Plus are great:
CPU and Operating System: It runs on a dual-core 1.7 GHz Cortex-A15 for background processes and & quad-core 1.3 GHz Cortex-A7 upfront, installed with Android’s 4.4 KitKat version.
Connectivity: It comes in both 3G and 4G/LTE models and is Wifi and Bluetooth enabled.
Size and Dimensions: Weighing only 165g, it is also very thin at 150.5 x 75.7 x 7.5 mm
Screen Resolution: The Honor 6 Plus has a 5.5 inch multitouch screen with a 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution. It has Huawei’s Emotion 3.0 UI interface that leaves your apps showing on your home screen (much like what you see in Apple’s iOS).
Storage: It has choices of either 16 or 32GB internal storage but can be expanded to 128GB with a microSD card, and has 3GB of RAM.
Camera: The Honor 6 Plus has an interesting 8MP dual camera system in the back, allowing you to focus on a picture after it’s been taken. In the front for you selfie lovers is also an 8MP camera, useful for video calls as well.
Battery: Who doesn’t want a great battery? The 3600mAh in the Honor 6 Plus is an upgrade for most of the rivals in its league. You’re guaranteed at least 4-5 hours of continuous use.
Price: It is between $325 and $400 (approx. ZMW2100 and ZMW2600 respectively) BEFORE TAXES so expect the price slightly higher when available in Zambia.
As much as Huawei may be rebranding itself and erasing the logo from its smartphones, something about this phone feels like iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus knockoff material, seeing as the Honor 6 Plus had an Honor 6 predecessor.
We hope it still sells though. The dual camera feature is great for anyone who loves a grand ol’ photography session, and the big 3600mAh battery gives you more time than other smartphones to do the important things you need to.
