HTC 10 announced. Same, but different
HTC just announced its new smartphone the HTC 10 today and it looks like the M9 and A9 had a baby. The changes are mostly under the hood, as well as the name which has dropped the ‘M’ present in its predecessors.
In a 12 minute introductory video, HTC said they have built this HTC 10 based on feedback from its customers, integrating better camera, audio and naming it the most customizable Android phone ever.
It’s made of aluminium on the back and sides, and glass for the screen, with smooth edges and curves. It’s been made to fit into your hand.
The HTC 10 comes with a USB Type-C port. It has 24-bit digital signal processing audio with boom sound to improve on what’s it been adding to previous phones, with Dolby surround sound and two modes, ‘Music’ and ‘Theatre’.
You can also personalize your audio profile settings to cater to your hearing and headsets (this sounds similar to what Samsung has for )
It has added its technology called Ultrapixels introduced in 2013 to give customization that will give higher quality imaging from its camera and the pixels have been raised to a 12MP sensor to give better resolution even in low-light, from the previous 4MP sensors in older models which couldn’t allow users to zoom in.
In the rear camera, optical image stabilization has been added to compensate exposure for images in motion. For the first time, they have added it to their 5MP front camera as well.
Performance-wise, it has the latest Qualcomm 820 SnapDragon processor, found in many latest smartphones. “Apps launch in a snap, screens scroll beautifully and games respond instantly” HTC says.
Battery life has been worked on as well, as HTC says it’s the most power-efficient HTC phone it’s made. They’ve added QuickCharge 3 technology to charge your battery to a day’s worth of use, up to 50%, in just 30 minutes.
Teaming up with Google, HTC has handpicked apps that will run much more smoothly on the phone.
There are also customization options for your fonts, themes, and stickers to represent your personal apps.
