Local Startup Friday feature: Zoom Food

Lusaka residents can now enjoy restaurant food without the hassle of driving to the restaurant because of Zoom Food. Zoom is a Zambian owned company that offers you the chance to order food and have it delivered to your doorstep seven days a week.

“I spend a majority of my work day in the industrial area where there are few choices for food so Zoom has solved a huge issue for me,” writes Mutale, a frequent customer on the Zoom Facebook Page.

Zoom delivers from 25 local restaurants to most of Lusaka’s central business district and adjoining suburbs. Some of Zoom’s famous partners include Marlin, Mint Lounge, John Dory’s, Dulce and Banana, Chang Thai, The Deli, The Orange Tree and The Royal Dil.

Zoom has three methods of placing an order:

The order is delivered within the hour to it’s destination and customers pay cash on delivery or arrange to make an eWallet transfer.

“They are efficient and have a diverse range of restaurants/menus to choose from via their website,” said a frequent customer.

The cuisines on the site include: Italian, Nigerian, Zambian, Korean, Thai, Indian, Pan Asian and Continental. In four simple steps one can have their food delivered to their workplace or home within the hour. First, log onto the site or app. Second, browse the restaurant menus. Third, click on the desired menu item and lastly, checkout.

Since the conception of operations in May 2016 under the name of Ndiyo Meals, Zoom has delivered thousands of meals from listed and unlisted restaurants all over Lusaka. Starting with a roster of only six restaurants and a website. Zoom now delivers for 25 restaurants and is adding more every month. Zoom has also added mobile apps available on Google Play and the App Store.
