Instagram is tweaking its newsfeed for you

Instagram

In a blog post, Instagram has announced that its app will soon change the way users see their newsfeed on their timelines. It will start to show the posts from people or pages that interest you the most, giving an example of a user who follows a singer being able to see pictures from the singer’s latest event first, no matter what time it was posted.

Instagrammers will also be able to see the posts from their closest friends and family, depending on the relationship and I bet Instagram will do this based on an algorithm that determines who you talk to the most or which pages you check regularly.

Instagram shared:

“The order of photos and videos in your feed will be based on the likelihood you’ll be interested in the content, your relationship with the person posting and the timeliness of the post. As we begin, we’re focusing on optimizing the order — all the posts will still be there, just in a different order.”

Instagram also said this is still a work in progress and will be shared to seek feedback from users before making it an official tweak. The reason they want to change the timeline is because many users complain about missing posts from the pages or people they need to see on their timeline the most.

Sounds like Facebook’s Top Stories feature, right?  They do have the same owners anyway!

Do you want to see the posts you’d be interested in first, or do you like the timeline as it is right now? Let us know in the comments 🙂
