Huawei recognized among top employers
Huawei has been recognized among the 2021 top employers in Africa by the Netherland’s based Top
Employer Institute, receiving the annual Top Employers Certification Award. This is in recognition of its
exceptional employee practices. The Top Employers Institute is the global authority on recognizing
excellence in people practices.
Speaking after receiving the annual Top Employers Certification Award that was conferred virtually on
Thursday 28th January, Huawei Director of Public Relations Hansen He said the award came as great
motivation for Huawei Zambia, especially for a fact that it is the second time in a role the Zambia office
has received the award.

“As Huawei Zambia in particular, we first received this award in 2020 and we have received another one
this year 2021.These are not easy times for any organization but Huawei has continued to strive for
nothing but excellence. We are happy to have been recognized for our exceptional employee practices and
as top employers in these trying moments. We will endeavor to maintain that trajectory” Mr. He said.
In addition to the Continental Head Quarters Top Employer Certification for Africa 2021, Huawei also
received the prestigious award in 13 African countries, including South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria and
Zambia.
In a statement, Huawei Southern Africa Regional Human Resource Director Chen Yu explained
that, winning the Top Employer Award is recognition of Huawei’s high standards and
commitment to encouraging and empowering our employees to work with the highest
commitment and passion. Mr. Chen added that Huawei is committed creating opportunities forall so as to build a diverse workforce with a focus on professional development, health and
safety, and employee well-being.
With the digital era and the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the need for upskilling has
become a top priority for organizations. ICT skills have also become critical to national
development, as well as, career opportunities for working professionals. Chen Yu said that
Huawei persistently focuses on growing the ICT skills of its people, to meet the needs of the
future digital economy.The Top Employers Institute programme has certified and recognized more than 1 600 Top Employers in 120 territories across five continents. The Top Employers Institute programme
certifies organizations based on the results of its HR Best Practices Audit carried out on each
organization after the completion of a highly intense survey.
The survey covers topics such as people strategy, work environment, talent acquisition, learning,
well-being, diversity, change management, performance management, culture and more.
