DStv’s Mzansi Magic Channel upgrades to HD
Starting tomorrow the 24th of July, 2015, DStv viewers will now watch the Mzansi Magic Channel 161 in HD (high definition). Great news for all who’re about high quality innit?

“Mzansi“ is slang used by locals in South Africa to refer to their country, hence most of the content on Mzansi Magic is locally produced there. However, many Zambians also take interest in these too, seeing from the huge following and ratings that popular shows like Idols SA, Our Perfect Wedding, Zabalaza, Date My Family have currently.
Director of M-Net Local Interest Channels in South Africa Nkateko Mabaso said “All of our premiere shows are shot in the HD format and we are very pleased to be able to now offer a full HD channel. We know that our TV audiences increasingly appreciate and access top quality programming, so this development will specifically add value to their overall viewing experience. The channel also remains available in standard definition.”
As long as you have DStv Premium, Extra and Compact packages you can tune in tomorrow and catch Mzansi Magic in HD from 24 July on DStv channel 161.
We have competition on Zambia in the decoder world, with others like Strong offering Strong and Zuku set top boxes.
If you own a Tv that is HD supported, you’re better off, but even then low quality is hard to hide. The digital migration journey is still in process and we should see less ‘showery’ screens across homes with all kinds of television sets in Zambia, but for now, this is happening one channel at a time…
