DStv joins the 2017 Stanbic Music Festival bandwagon
Satellite broadcaster DStv has become the latest big-name sponsor to come to the party as a sponsor of the 2017 Stanbic Music Festival featuring hit American R&B group Boyz II Men.
The television company this week signed a partnership with Stanbic Bank to co-sponsor the extravaganza, which bring together top local musicians as well as the iconic US group.
Stanbic and DStv jointly announced the co-sponsorship of the fourth edition of the country’s largest music spectacle of the year, which will take place on September 22-23, 2017 in Lusaka.
This year’s edition has attracted partnerships with Stanbic from Airtel, Lafarge and now DStv, which signals the popularity of the annual music show.
Continuing with the tradition of attracting international entertainers of acclaim, this year’s music festival will feature iconic Boyz II Men as the headline act, joined by top local artists Afro soul singer Wezi, traditional Folk singer Mumba Yachi, hip-hop star Chef 187, gospel RnB sensation Abel Chungu Musuka, contemporary RnB singer K’millian, singer, writer and guitarist James Sakala and electric violinist Caitlin DeVille.
Last year, the festival hosted award-winning UK-based pop-reggae band UB40. It has previously hosted renowned acts including Hugh Masekela, Oliver M’tukudzi, Mi Casa, Earl Klugh and Zonke as well as a host of top local artistes.
Stanbic Head of Human Capital Eve Nkumbula said she was happy that so many progressive companies were joining Stanbic in sponsoring this year’s music festival.
“Over the last few weeks, we have been joined by other progressive companies in the sponsorship of this year’s music festival. Today, we are celebrating our partnership with DStv, which has a long experience in the sponsorship and promotion of arts in Zambia. Together with DStv, we share a vision of social and cultural development of our community,” said Ms Nkumbula.
“We are happy to have DStv on board in sponsoring this prestigious event. This event is our way of creating a legendary event platform that offers a unique artistic event that contributes to our culture and local tourism,” she added.
Ms Nkumbula said the festival had built a platform upon which local talents that offer their unique music genius blend with international musicians of note, and share performances and experiences.
Speaking at the partnership announcement event, DStv acting Managing Director, Recha kabwe said this strategic partnership clearly demonstrates the confidence that Stanbic Bank has with MultiChoice in supporting stake holder relations. We have enjoyed good relationships with Stanbic Bank over the years where we supported the 2014 jazz Musical Festival and 2015 UB40 Stanbic Festival.
MultiChoice is this year coming on board with a sponsorship package of K 250,000 towards the successful hosting of the concert. In addition MultiChoice will give away 100 tickets to loyal subscribers who have stayed with the business for a period of 5-20 years non-stop and is one way the company is saying ‘thank you’ to its valued loyal customers.
