CELiquid Telecom Appoints New MD
CE Liquid Telecom has appointed Jerome Chabuka Kawesha as it’s new Managing Director with effect from 1 November 2013. Dr Kawesha, is a renowned figure in the ICT sector, with a strong background in mobile telecoms having been at Celtel Zambia Plc – now trading as Airtel for over a decade. His last post at Airtel was Head of Corporate Communications and Government Relations at Airtel Zambia, the largest mobile operator in Zambia.
He sits on several public and private Boards and Committees, a Member of various national Bodies, and a highly educated in various fieds such as Business Management, Telecoms, IT, and ICT Policy and Regulation as well as Corporate Governance.
CELiquid, is a product of a US$30 Million Joint Venture between CEC and Liquid Telecom Group in 2011. CELiquid is a privately-owned data, voice and IP provider, supplying wholesale fibre optic, satellite and international carrier services to Mobile Operators, ISPs and Corporate Clientele who required high speed and bandwidth connections for their businesses and services. Liquid Telecom is a Mauritian incorporated company with presence in Botswana, Kenya, Lesotho, South Africa, United Kingdom and Zimbabwe and owns and operates one of the largest fibre optic networks in Southern Africa. Currently, the fibre network is in excess of 13, 000km.
The According to the Liquid Telecom Group blog the previous MD, Garth Schooling, will now be the Managing Executive of Business Commercial at Liquid Telecom South Africa. The blog also quotes Nic Rudnick, CEO of The Liquid Telecom Group, who said “We are an ambitious company which is growing quickly. We welcome Dr Kawesha on board and value the expertise and experience he brings to our company.”
