Unveiling of Nokia Lumia 930; to trash Lumia 925 or not?
Bring on the newbies Nokia! Well they certainly have with the new Nokia Lumia 930 that was rolled out on Wednesday, 2nd April 2014, giving the previous Nokia Lumia 925 a run for its fans.
It is bigger than the Lumia 925, having a 5 inch screen and dimensions of 137 x 71 x 9.8 mm. the Nokia Lumia 925 has a 4.5 inch screen with dimensions of 129 x 70.6 x 8.5 mm. Thus the Lumia 930 is slightly thicker than the Lumia 925. It is also heavier, weighing 167g while the Lumia 925 weighs 139g.
The Nokia Lumia 930 comes preinstalled with the latest Windows Phone 8.1 as its operating system compared to its predecessor’s Windows 8 OS (although plans are underway to allow an upgrade to 8.1 on the Lumia 925).

Being Nokia’s most high performance smartphone yet, it comes with a 2.2 GHz Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor and has a 2GB RAM. This means in a time where browsing is man’s best friend this should be fast enough to compete with the latest smartphones out there. The Nokia Lumia 930 seems to understand the need for speed.
It’s predecessor the Nokia Lumia 925 only had 1 GB of RAM and was 16 GB. It’s 32GB version was only available on Vodafone so the Nokia Lumia 930 is definitely an upgrade.
As for the memory, the Nokia Lumia 930 has no micro SD card slot but the internal storage is 32GB. Both the Lumia 930 and Lumia 925 come with a standard 7GB OneDrive cloud space so that’s more than you might need.However, should you need additional space, get yourself signed up for another cloud service like Dropbox.
As for the camera, we are impressed they notched it up from the Nokia Lumia 925’s 8.7 MP to now 20MP. What a difference! They are both Carl Zeiss cameras but the Lumia 930’s camera has optical stability so you don’t get blurry pictures and there is also an LED flash for when you need to take photos in low light.
The front camera is only 1.2MP on the Lumia 930 while Lumia 925 has 1.5MP so the latter wins for selfies.
The battery life is quite good as well, coming at 2420mAh compared to the Lumia 925’s 2200mAh. This makes it able to stand longer periods of usage so it gets a thumbs up from us. Plus, the Lumia 930 comes with wireless charging that makes it great for when there’s no power socket to connect to.
Overall the Nokia Lumia 930 is better than the Nokia Lumia 925 in terms of speed, camera and battery life. However, the 930 is heavier and more square in shape than the 925 which might not be as easily acceptable to most people.
Should you upgrade though? Definitely.
The release date and price have not yet been announced but we should expect it by June.
