You might have found the “One”: HTC One M8

HTC mobile devices have a place in the competition that is Samsung, Apple and Blackberry when it comes to high end performance gadgets and so they keep trying to improve on their models.

The HTC One M8 was recently released and for the love of tech we had to find out of it was worth the hype and also see how it compares to its predecessor, the HTC One M7.

The HTC One M8 weighs 160g compared with the HTC One M7 which weighs 143g making it heavier, and it also comes with dimensions of 146.36 x 70.6 x 9.35 mm making it slightly larger than the M7 which has dimensions of 137.4 x 68.2 x 9.3 mm.

The M8 has a screen resolution of 1080×1920 pixels which are just the same as the M7 but the screen is a bigger 5 inch super LCD3 touchscreen compared to the M7’s 4.7 inch LCD screen.

When it comes to the storage space the HTC One M8 wins because the HTC One M7 gave a choice of either  32 or 64 GB internal storage with no SD card option whereas the M8 gives a choice of 16 or 32 GB but with an option to expand to 128 GB using a memory card.  This is great for the modern day human who is obsessed with downloads. 

The HTC One M8 comes with the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat version that comes with Sense 6 while HTC One ran on Android 4.1.2 and had Sense UI 5. Find out what makes the Sense 6 better here.  As for the processor, the HTC One M7 carried a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 quad-core chip clocked at 1.7GHz with 2GB of RAM while the M8 has been upgraded to latest Snapdragon 801 2.3 GHz quad-core chip but still having 2GB of RAM. If you want a faster browsing experience then the M8 is a smart choice.

In the age of the Selfie Domination, cameras are an important aspect when it comes to buying mobile devices and well the  M8 has improved from the M7 even though it’s very similar to last year’s model. The HTC One M7 featured a 4 MP rear camera and video recording capabilities of 1080p@30fps / 720p@60fps. The new model also packs a 4MP rear camera but with a dual-LED flash instead of a single LED flash, and it also boasts a 5 MP front-facing camera instead of a 2.1 MP one. So yes, the M8 is definitely a must have for selfies.

A gadget review would not be complete without talking about the battery life so here goes. The HTC One M8 has a 2600 mAh battery while the HTC One M7 has a 2300 mAh battery, boosting battery life by about 40 percent more than its younger brother.

In conclusion, the HTC One M8 is definitely way better than the HTC One M7. Feel free to upgrade.
