Bolt Further Expands Its Services In Zambia To Ndola And Kitwe

Following Bolt’s successful entry into Zambia’s capital Lusaka, Bolt announces its expansion to two new cities, Ndola and Kitwe. This strategic move comes as part of Bolt‘s commitment to providing reliable and efficient mobility solutions across Zambia.

With the aim of enhancing accessibility and convenience for both riders and drivers, Bolt has onboarded over 150 drivers in each city, ensuring  availability of its service for customers in Ndola and Kitwe. This expansion reflects Bolt‘s dedication to supporting local economies by creating job opportunities and fostering economic growth.

Ndola and Kitwe, being prominent economic hubs in Zambia, present immense potential for Bolt to cater to the growing demand for convenient and affordable transportation services. By expanding its footprint to these cities, Bolt aims to empower more individuals to earn a sustainable income and provide safe, reliable transportation options to the communities.

“We are thrilled to extend our services to Ndola and Kitwe, further solidifying our presence in Zambia,” said Laurent Koerge, Head of Expansion at Bolt.  “We are committed to offering reliable mobility services, while contributing to the socio-economic development of the regions we operate in. Through our platform, we seek to connect riders with affordable and convenient travel options while providing earning opportunities for drivers.”

Bolt‘s expansion to Ndola and Kitwe reaffirms its position as a leading mobility platform dedicated to serving communities across Zambia. The mobility app is committed to offering all customers a safe mobility experience and is introducing various safety measures and in-app features designed to protect riders and drivers. These safety measures include:

  • SOS button: it allows riders and drivers to get in contact with the police by simply pushing a button.

  • Share my ride: this feature enables riders and drivers to share a link with their real-time journey information.

  • In-app calls: in-app calls and messaging will be available on the app so phone numbers of riders and drivers will not have to be disclosed unless necessary.

  • Driver unmatching: If a rider or driver rates their trip with one star, they will be automatically unmatched from that rider or driver.

Bolt is easy to use: customers download the secure and free Bolt app from Apple App Store or Google Play Store and set up a user profile. When customers are ready to ride, they simply open the app, set their location and their intended destination. The app then gives an upfront cost estimate for the trip. Once customers accept the cost estimate, the app alerts drivers nearby who accept the ride.

Once a driver has accepted the ride, customers are able to see their driver’s details and can track the driver in real-time — making it easy to be sure that they get safely into the correct vehicle with the correct driver. When the ride is complete, payment is made in cash. Bolt also aims to bring in-app payment as soon as possible.
