Apply for the Google Policy Fellowship in Africa
Theo Bertram, Senior Manager, Public Policy EMEA has sent a call for applications from undergraduates, graduates and law students interested in internet and technology policy to participate in the Google Policy Fellowship.
Fellows will work with host organisations who deal with issues such as broadband and access policy, content regulation, copyright and creativity, consumer privacy, open government, government surveillance, data security, data innovation, free expression and more. See the host organisations here.

Google provides a small stipend during the period of the fellowship, but has no involvement in defining or conducting the research. Who should apply?
We’re looking for students who are passionate about technology, and want to spend the summer diving headfirst into Internet policy. Students from all majors and degree programs who possess the following qualities are encouraged to apply:
- Demonstrated or stated commitment to Internet and technology policy
- Excellent academic record, professional/extracurricular/volunteer activities, subject matter expertise
- First-rate analytical, communications, research, and writing skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and efficiently, and to work smartly and resourcefully in a fast-paced environment
Fellows will receive a stipend of USD 7,500 in 2017.
About the Africa program
Google will offer 8 fellowships starting from late August 2017, across Sub-Saharan Africa. The program will run for 6 to 12 months, with exact duration varying by organization.
