Airtel’s 1st 1Bo Promotion Car Winner Announced

Yesterday was the day many Airtel subscribers had been waiting for; the announcement of the first winner in its 1Bo promotion where a Hyundai Xcent car was the 1st prize.

The winner who happened to be a 27 year old female student from Serenje by the name of Kassandra Nene Satella, was announced by Airtel Zambia’s Director Corporate Communications, Government Relations and Corporate Social Responsibility, Mr Joseph Kafwariman.

Kafwariman stated “Airtel is committed to empowering the local communities and giving them the platform to realize their full potential through promotions like this one. We have the widest product portfolio because we understand that you, our customers, have different telecommunication needs thus tailoring our products in a way that best suits your lifestyle.”

The whole event took place at the Airtel Headquarters and Kassandra urged other Airtel subscribers to join the promotion saying, “I believe that God has blessed me through Airtel. A friend of mine suggested I enter the competition because I would earn free talk time after every recharge. When I entered the promotion, it really never occurred to me that I would win anything and for that matter be the first car prize winner. This promotion is real and I would like to encourage Airtel customers to enter the competition and stand a chance of being a winner like me.”

The 1Bo promotion has been running for about a month now with 3 cars, Hyundai Xcents, being given out to lucky subscribers who participate in the competition. The grand prize will be a fully furnished house.

How 1Bo Works

To enter, subscribers have to opt in by dialing *140# and then follow the prompts. They will be charged 50 ngwee daily for a chance to win and will receive bonus airtime valid till 24 hours that day on every recharge after the daily 50 ngwee for the promotion has been deducted.

Our thoughts

Mobile operators have always had promotions that give back to the community and it’s great to see continuity of these from Airtel Zambia. Sometimes we hear of malpractices in the system (*cough* MTN *cough*) but we hope none of the current promotions will have to end up in court over some inside job being done to change the outcome of winners.
