Airtel Donates 1, 500 books to adopted Kabumbu Basic School in Mwansabombwe
Senior Chief Mwata Kazembe of the Lunda people of Luapula Province has commended Airtel Networks Zambia Plc. for its continued commitment towards the education sector in his chiefdom.
Speaking at his Palace when the Airtel entourage visited the palace, The Mwata said he is deeply touched at Airtel’s continued support to not just the education sector but also the health sector.
“I am so impressed and touched with the way Airtel Networks Zambia Plc. has taken the stance of improving the education sector in my chiefdom. In 2011 Airtel adopted Kabumbu Basic School in my village and also constructed a 1 by 3 classroom block at a cost of K225, 000 and since then, this company has continued to render support to the same school in both material and infrastructure development,” The Mwata said.
He added, “ You have come back today to give the adopted school 1, 500 exercise books and surely we can only thank you and ask you to continue with your good works because as you know once you educate the children, then you would have set the bar high for the future generation.”
Airtel Zonal Business Manager Brian Chibesa who led staff to pay a courtesy call on the Senior Chief said the company was here to stay and would continue helping where it could in alleviating people’s lives in the communities.
“Airtel is committed to changing lives of the vulnerable in society and therefore we will improve the lives of our communities by empowering young people to take advantage of opportunities of the future,” Chibesa said.
And receiving the donation on behalf of the School, Mr Mutale Chapewa who is the Headmaster thanked Airtel for its continuous support to the school and wished them well in their future endeavours.
