UBA Zambia announces the appointment of new country CEO, Chinedu Obeta

United Bank for Africa Plc (UBA) has announced the appointment of Chinedu Obeta as new Chief Executive Officer for United Bank for Africa Zambia Limited (UBA Zambia), effective October 1, 2020.

The new Managing Director /Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO) takes over from Emeka Dimanochie, who has been at the helm of the bank for the last 4 years.

The newly appointed CEO of UBA Zambia joins the subsidiary with official approval from the Central Bank of Zambia and has over 20 years of banking experience.

Prior to his appointment as the Managing Director/CEO of UBA Zambia, Obeta has worked in various management positions such as MD/CEO of UBA Sierra Leone, Business Manager at UBA Plc and Executive Director Wholesale Banking UBA Sierra Leone.  He holds an MBA (Banking & Finance) from the University of Nigeria.

UBA Group Chairman, Tony O. Elumelu stated, “We are committed to catalysing growth on the African continent and the new CEO is taking up the role at a very exciting period, as the Group executes its innovative digital play across the African continent.” He further said the new CEO will drive the Group’s strategy and activities as well as foster strong business growth for UBA Zambia.
