Airtel Zambia rolls out 105 new sites

Airtel Networks Zambia Plc is rolling out 105 new sites across the country. Managing Director, Mr. Apoorva Mehrotra says of the 105, 58 have already been commissioned with 47 being currently rolled out in phases to help improve signal quality with faster connections to enable customers have a better talking and internet surfing experience.

“Over two years ago we rolled out the biggest 4G network in Zambia and pioneered an era of affordable
internet in Zambia. This was followed a year later with the 100% 4G Konse, an initiative that has brought
4G technology to each and every part of the country,” Mehrotra has said. “We have also activated 4G on 900Mhz frequency which has improved data user experience on 4G as well as improved indoor user experience. Our goal is to bring to our customers, affordable and innovative products and services, but most importantly a good network experience hence the addition of more sites with the Eastern Province getting 15 new 2G, 3G and 4G all encompassed sites.”

Other new sites will be deployed across all 10 provinces with Lusaka getting a total 31 sites once works are
complete.

“This is not the end of the deployment of sites as more will be coming to make sure we cover more areas
across the country,” Mr Mehrotra said.

The Airtel MD also added that Airtel is committed to ensuring that customers are able to communicate with
family and friends during this period that the Country is battling with the COVID 19 pandemic.

“We still encourage our customers to take advantage of our Airtel Money service in order to pay for various
goods and services as this is the safest way to transact especially in this difficult time we are undergoing,”
said Mehrotra.
