Kiddle is the new Google for kids
Kiddle has been introduced as a search engine made for kids, and to protect their eyes and ears has Google’s safe search capabilities that have restricted explicit content from being searched for. We tried to enter all the (very very many) expletives we know but the page kept giving a large ‘Oops’ at every turn:
Kiddle works by selecting content that has been written with kids in mind using Safe Search, and has editors that pick these out as results in searches. It shows the searches in this order:
- Safe sites and pages written specifically for kids. Handpicked and checked by Kiddle editors.
Typically, results 1-3. - Safe, trusted sites that are not written specifically for kids, but have content written in a simple way, easy for kids to understand. Handpicked and checked by Kiddle editors.
Typically, results 4-7. - Safe, famous sites that are written for adults, providing expert content, but are harder for kids to understand. Filtered by Google safe search.
Typically, results 8 onwards.
The Kiddle search engine comes with large thumbnails to help kids identify what they’re looking for fast, and also has large Arial font text to make reading easier.
As for privacy, Kiddle doesn’t collect any private information so yay to #SaferInternet!
Users are also encouraged to add on keywords to block from the site, or even other sites that are inappropriate to make browsing cleaner for your kids.

Give ‘Kiddling‘ a go with your kids, there’s a colourful word to find out about without all the porn pop-ups 🙂
