Hisense launches in Zambia
Chinese electronics manufacturer Hisense has officially launched in Zambia. At an event at Radisson Blu in Lusaka, the brand established itself under distribution partner Hazida.
Zambia now becomes the 15th country that Hisense is present in, and Hazida was chosen as its partner for being one of the longest existing Zambian retailers in the country.
At the launch, Hisense’s Deputy General Manager Mr Pedro Teixeira noted the importance of the Zambian market saying “Zambia has been on our radar for a long time and we are proud to be able to officially launch our product range locally. I urge customers to compare the value for money offered by Hisense products against other brands, I’m sure they will be pleasantly surprised to see what Hisense has to offer.”
Keith Pereira, Hisense’s Export Manager, on Hisense’s plans in Zambia said there are plans to ensure that the products are sold at the best value for consumers’ prices. Though selling through Hazida who obviously have to make a profit for their costs, they expect the value will not be exaggeratedly high that consumers do not feel the benefit of having a Hisense presence in the country.
He also said it’s currently difficult to put a price on some goods at the moment because of the fluctuations in the currency but as soon as it stabilises, there will be more solid values.
On whether there are any plans to establish a plant in Zambia, he said not yet, but it’s a thought for the future after seeing the market response to its products.
On display for consumer interaction were Hisense LED TVs, smartphones and tablets and fridges. See the gallery below:
Hisense has factories in Africa in South Africa, Egypt and Algeria and has over 75000 employees globally.
