Airtel and Stanbic donate 90 matresses to health centers in Zambia

Airtel Networks Zambia Plc  has  made a  donation of 90 hospital mattresses worth  K40,000 to  various clinics in Zambia.

At he handover event Airtel Managing Director, Mr. Peter Correia emphasised the need for a healthy nation if the country was to develop.

His speech was read on his behalf by Mrs. Yuyo Nachali-Kambikambi, who is Airtel Head of Corporate Communications and Government Relations, and in it Mr. Correia said Airtel was always proud to be associated with projects that help alleviate the many health challenges that communities face.

“Today we are in one of the remote areas of Lusaka to give a helping hand and are happy to be donating 90 hospital mattresses valued at K40, 000 which will benefit various clinics across the country, with the Chris Nyalugwe Memorial Clinic being one of the recipients. We know that many clinics across the 10 provinces are faced with numerous challenges so we hope our humble donation today will go a long way in cushioning some of the challenges,” Mr. Correia said.

The donation was received on behalf of the First Lady, Mrs Esther Lungu,  by Senior Officer Ms. Prisilla Masilokowho said that the First Lady was happy to see that corporating partners such as Airtel and Stanbic were coming together for a good cause and that such efforts would always be commended.

“I would like to thank Airtel for providing the mattresses as well as Stanbic for facilitating the shipment of the beds to Zambia. As the First Lady’s office, we would also  like to thank the WANETA organisation for mobilising resources and finding partners in Airtel and Stanbic to make this donation happen,” Ms Masiloka said.

The clinics that will benefit from this donation include  Solwezi Clinic in Solwezi, Nalolo Health Center in Western Province, Masaiti Clinic on the Copperbelt and Chiwala Health Center  in lower Zambezi.

Every corporate firm has a social responsibility in the communities they operate in and it’s great to see that Airtel and Stanbic keep this in mind every so often. Well done!
