Airtel’s Corporate Communications Director, Mr Joseph Kafwariman today handed over a cheque of K63, 000 towards the hosting of this year’s Ukusefya Pa Ng’wena traditional ceremony.

Mr Kafwariman said “As Airtel, we pledged to support culture in Africa because we believe this plays an important role to foster development in the tourism sector. Any form of development should embody and resonate with our culture; developments achieved devoid of this aspect will be short lived. Culture as we know it should be placed at the very heart and soul of Africa’s aspiration to develop.

Culture, apart from boosting tourism, helps retain our identity and sets us apart as a unique and blessed people. Today Culture has become the centre and soul of human adventure.”

He further said “Airtel has been a proud supporter of the rich Zambian cultural heritage for a number of years now and this morning, we would like to reaffirm our commitment to this noble cause. Support to culture and traditional ceremonies in particular, is part of our core CSR initiative and we will continue to support them.

This year’s Ukusefya Pa Ng’wena traditional ceremony is scheduled to take place on 1st August 2015.
