Microsoft Nukes The Cloud Storage War with Unlimited Cloud Storage
Microsoft may just stepped up and started a war in the cloud arena by introducing unlimited cloud storage to its Office 365 users who use OneDrive, at no additional cost from the subscription that users pay for Office 365.
Before it was only 1 TB of storage space, now limitless. So who should be concerned? Every cloud service out there with a limit on storage!
This unlimited cloud storage comes with an auto upload feature that allows you to upload photos from your device, in whatever format, that will be stored on a secure cloud (*cough*iCloud *cough*) where you don’t have to worry about your pictures being hacked and made viral.
According to the official OneDrive blog, Chris Jones, Corporate Vice President of OneDrive & SharePoint states that ‘While unlimited storage is another important milestone for OneDrive we believe the true value of cloud storage is only realized when it is tightly integrated with the tools people use to communicate, create, and collaborate, both personally and professionally. That is why unlimited storage is just one small part of our broader promise to deliver a single experience across work and life that helps people store, sync, share, and collaborate on all the files that are important to them, all while meeting the security and compliance needs of even the most stringent organizations’.
Did Microsoft just make a statement? Yes they did, and you better be listening. The need for storage in today’s world seems to be ever increasing. The increased convenience of it all is what’s driving demand. The fact that you can not lose file by simply back them up over a cloud puts users minds at ease. As long as it’s secure enough, especially encrypted clouds, make the cloud a very good choice to have your most important data stored without having to worry about others getting their hacking hands on it.
