The Top Apps of the World, include Zambia’s Favourite – WhatsApp

The fastest growing apps in the world were announced by Statista. At number 4 is Whatsapp.

WhatsApp is popular in Zambia as it offers a multi-platform access to a very easy to use app for instant mobile communication with contacts with the ability to send images, audio and video. The newly-added feature of voice messages, makes it even more relevant as BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) becomes less relevant.

The noteworthy thing is that only Instagram and Whatsapp are among the top 5 apps, which can be readily found on various platforms in Zambia from Android to iOS, and the ubiquitous BlackBerry. Instagram is more or less an elite app for the photo enthusiast, and is only available on iOS and higher versions of Android.

It is up to developers in Zambia, and Africa at large, to get in on the action. However, the Mobile Operators must do their part in driving mobile usage by bringing the same experience enjoyed with world-class providers for apps such as Youtube, Skype, and Vine to name a few.
